Here at New Canaan, we are often asked when we think COVID-19 will “end” and things will return to normal. Like our families, we also can’t wait until things are back to where they used to be. We do know that we simply won’t get back to normal until everyone does three very vital things.
News – Important Updates For Our Families
Let’s Have a Happier Holiday
The cards are filling our mailboxes and the images are filling our social media. It’s a photograph of a wonder-filled child, surrounded by happy family, gazing at the splendor of lights against a dark sky. Who can resist this joyous portrayal of the winter holidays? Unfortunately, without proper preparation and planning, the holidays are much more likely to be chaos filled with meltdowns, tantrums and screaming. Happy Holidays indeed!
Whether you celebrate Hanukkah, the Solstice, Mawlid Un Nabi, Christmas or Kwanzaa, New Canaan Pediatrics can help your family get through this month happily, with all the joy the holidays should truly bring.
Planes, Trains, Automobiles, and Germs for the Holidays
As more and more people receive the COVID-19 vaccine, families are allowing themselves to be optimistic about life after the pandemic. It’s important to remember that we are not quite there yet; we are still in the beginning steps, especially for our youngest children – and unfortunately infection rates are rising again in some parts of the country.
However, we understand many of us are traveling for the holidays to be with family for much needed rest and connection with those they love most. New Canaan Pediatrics is here to help with advice about staying vigilant to stay healthy.

COVID-19 Vaccination Verification
Help Us to keep your child’s vaccine record up-to-date!

The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends all children ages 5 + receive the COVID-19 vaccine. Many of our families have begun the process of getting vaccinated throughout the different community vaccine distribution sites. It is very important that we keep all our patient’s immunization records up-to-date.
Helping Your Child Through A Positive Puberty Experience
Puberty is a time of life most of us just want to forget. While it’s a critical time in our physical and mental development, it’s rare that anyone looks back and says “Yep, I’d do that again.” And just when we (may have) recovered from this most cringe-inducing time of life, we realize that our children are about to hit that same stage.
Yikes.
New Canaan Pediatrics is here to help both you and your child get through puberty as painlessly and positively as possible. With open communication and a good grasp of puberty science, both you and your child can make it through!

Breast is Best for Baby…But What About Mom?
The “Breast is Best” campaign began around 1978 when Penny and Andrew Stanley wrote the book of “Breast is Best” as a guide for new mothers. At that time, breastfeeding numbers were at an all time low and people were losing the knowledge passed down through the generations. “Breast is Best” reversed that trend and now, breastfeeding rates continue to climb year after year.
